Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:
a)	CIRCLE OF GRACE (M van Rensburg) was slow into stride.	

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a)	At approximately the 1200m, BLACK LIGHTNING (S Khumalo) was brushed out by CIRCLE OF GRACE (M van Rensburg), which commenced to over-race and was directed out to avoid running onto the heels of ROYAL EDITION (P Mxoli). 
b)	Jockey S Khumalo reported that BLACK LIGHTNING, which hung in badly from the 300m, took a number of awkward strides in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. 
	When taking into account BLACK LIGHTNING'S history of hanging in races, Trainer F P Habib was advised to take the necessary corrective measures to improve this gelding's racing manners.	
c)	Jockey M van Rensburg (CIRCLE OF GRACE) did not persevere with his riding from the 250m. Thereafter, Jockey M van Rensburg reported that he felt something amiss with CIRCLE OF GRACE in running. 
The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. 			
d)	GIMMEACHOICE was selected for the taking of specimens for TCO2 testing. The first specimen revealed a level of over 35 TCO2 mmol/L. Trainer A P Peter was advised that, in terms of the Procedure for Total Carbon	Dioxide (TCO2) analysis on Raceday, a second blood specimen would be collected. Trainer A P Peter was informed that the second blood specimen had revealed a level above the threshold of 37 mmol/L and that consequently GIMMEACHOICE was scratched from this race in terms of the provisions of Rules 72.1.23; 4.2.14 and 4.2.18. (Withdrawn at 15H05, 1/1 in the betting). GIMMEACHOICE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A P Peter was advised (Mr L Anderson).
e)	WILLOW EXPRESS (C Zackey), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
