THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GARDENER'S PRIDE (C Maujean) and LENNOXTOWN (R Fourie) jumped slow, losing one length. b) JACK IN THE GREEN (M Yeni) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, LENNOXTOWN (R Fourie), which jumped outwards slightly, made contact with GARDENER'S PRIDE (C Maujean). b) LENNOXTOWN (R Fourie) over raced in the early stages. c) DONNY'S BOY (C Zackey) and GARDENER'S PRIDE (C Maujean) over raced in the early and middle stages. d) NORDIC PRINCE (P Mxoli) was hanging in from the 450m. e) AGAMEMNON (E Webber) was switched out to obtain clear running at approximately the 250m. f) Jockey C Zackey reported that DONNY'S BOY failed to respond to his urgings, tired quickly from the 400m and he rode this colt with his hands and heels across the finishing line. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. g) Jockey C Maujean reported that GARDENER'S PRIDE made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Trainer TJ Laing was advised to report back should she find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables. h) Jockey E Webber was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of AGAMEMNON he misused his crop by striking AGAMEMNON more than 12 times (15) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey E Webber signed an admission of guilt and was fined R7 500,00. i) JACK IN THE GREEN, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer TJ Laing, acting on behalf of Trainer SJ Snaith, was advised.
