THE STARTER REPORTED A) IDEAL VIEW was nervous in the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED A) At the 900m, Jockey J Mphanya's right side stirrup iron broke when MASTERFUL rolled in and struck the inside running rail. This placed Jockey J Mphanya at a disadvantage for the reminder of the race. B) Leaving the 300m, BORN A STAR (*K Strydom) was steadied of the heels of UNCOMPLICATED (M V'Rensburg) when brushed inwards by DIRTY VIEW. C) In view of the performance of THE GHAN (*K A Brewer) (distance 8.45 - betting 4/1) the Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Trainer G D Smith will be requested to report back on the condition of this gelding upon return to the stables. D) The winner COFFEE BREAK was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Trainer Z Oosthuizen advised (LM). E) The unplaced horse BORN A STAR was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Trainer J V A Strydom advised (LM).
