Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a) On arriving at the start, the bridle on LEE VALLEY (C Bantam) broke and had to be replaced, causing a delay. The bridle was examined by a Stipendiary Steward and found to be in good working order.
b) LEE VALLEY was fractious in the stalls, broke through the front gates, dislodged Jockey C Bantam, cantered a short distance before returning to the start, was taken in hand, examined by the course Veterinary Surgeon, passed suitable to race and reloaded, causing a further delay.
c) LEE VALLEY jumped awkwardly outwards, made contact with the outside gate and dislodged Jockey C Bantam leaving the stalls.
d) NOBLE STEED (JP van der Merwe) was slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:

a) Leaving the 200m FIRINGONALLENGINES (G Wright) shifted out away from the crop and had to be straightened.
b) ZEITZ (C Orffer) raced green.
c) In view of the performance of BLAME IT ON ME (X Carstens), which was hanging out in the straight and proved difficult to assist, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
d) In view of the report from the Starter regarding LEE VALLEY (C Bantam), this gelding's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as he proves to be tractable to load with a companion. (Suspension dates: 08/09/2024 to 14/09/2024 inclusive). LEE VALLEY may not be presented for re-passing during this period.
e) BOUNDLESS ENERGY, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Bass-Robinson was advised. (SC)
