Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) DUBBELOSIX (L Mxothwa) was stubborn loading b) GNARLY (O Noach) was restless in the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) FLYING BOMB dislodged and injured Jockey M Winnaar during the canter past. FLYING BOMB cantered a short distance back to the parade ring, was taken in hand, examined by the course Veterinary Surgeon and passed suitable to race. Jockey M Winnaar was attended to on course by the paramedics and was sent for further evaluation. This necessitated a change of rider, which caused a delay. b) Racing into the turn at the 1100m, BOUNDLESS LOVE (JP van der Merwe) was carried outwards for a number of strides by ON MY HONOUR (D Schwarz), which commenced to over race, got its head up and shifted out away from the inside running rail. c) Leaving the 400m ON MY HONOUR (D Schwarz) rolled in and was brushed on the hindquarters by DUBBELOSIX (L Mxothwa). d) Jockey C Zackey reported that JOUEUR DE FLUTE made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. e) In view of the report from the Starter regarding DUBBELOSIX (L Mxothwa), this colt's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as he proves to be tractable to load with a companion. (Suspension dates: 08/09/2024 to 14/09/2024 inclusive). DUBBELOSIX may not be presented for re-passing during this period. f) ON MY HONOUR, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer T Woolard, acting on behalf of Trainer GS Kotzen, was advised. (TJ) JOCKEY AND/OR EQUIPMENT CHANGES: a) FLYING BOMB raced without blinkers and with ear muffs (declared 08h24 on 20240906) b) GNARLY raced without blinkers (declared 11h05 on 20240904) c) D Ashby rode FLYING BOMB (declared 13h42 on 20240907) (Jockey M Winnaar was stood down by the course Medical Officer. Rule 25.12 applied) d) L Mxothwa (DUBBELOSIX) rode +0.5kg (57.9kgs) e) R Khathi (JOHNNY DRAMA) rode +0.5kg (57.7kgs) RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER a) Nil THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) GNARLY - returned with blood in the right-hand side nostril. This gelding was examined endoscopically on course, which confirmed this blood was coming from the right-hand side sinus opening and was not of pulmonary origin (Dr A Hanekom) b) JOUEUR DE FLUTE - abnormal respiratory noise SCRATCHED: a) REPETITION - shin sore.
