EN ROUTE TO THE START, GREAT BARRIER (G LERENA) LIFTED ITS LEFT FRONT SHOE WHICH WAS ATTENDED TO BY THE COURSE FARRIER. THIS CAUSED A DELAY TO THE START OF THIS RACE. THE STARTER HAD NO REPORTS. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockey G Lerena reported that GREAT BARRIER made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. b) SALENIO PENINSULA (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer J J van Vuuren advised (MduP).
