Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED A) SOVEREIGN SUPREME broke though the front gate, bolted the course and was withdrawn. Trainer A C Greeff was advise to re-school this colt prior to its next engagement. B) PARIS OPERA was stubborn loading, slow away and lost 1 length. C) GUAQUISTADOR was slow away and lost 1 length. D) TIMKAT, JET MIRAGE and AFRICANROYALJEWEL were stubborn loading. E) CHLORIS was slow into stride. F) TUK TUK stood and lost many lengths. The starting stalls certificate for this gelding is withdrawn. G) GREAT GUY kicked the back gate in the stalls THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED A) SONNY QUINN (C Habib) was hanging in from the 300m B) Jockey R Fourie reported that AFRICANROYALJEWEL did not stride out freely in the running and did not persevere with his riding from the 150m. The Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. C) In view of the Starter's report with regard to TUK TUK (W Kennedy), this gelding's starting stall certificate is withdrawn and he is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as he proves tractable loading into the stalls. Suspension dates: 12 March 2022 to 18 March 2022 both days included. TUK TUK may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer G D Smith was advised. D) Apprentice K A Brewer signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking the horse JET MIRAGE more than 12 times in the entire race. A penalty of a R1000 fine was imposed. E) The winner PARIS OPERA was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Trainer A C Greeff advised (LM). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES A) JET MIRAGE raced equipped with a compression mask (08:35 - 10/03/2022). B) TUK TUK raced equipped with cheek pieces, a compression mask, without blinkers and a tongue tie (08:30 - 10/03/2022). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER A) THE SAND Apprentice K Strydom carried 0.5 Kg overweight, weighed out at 56.4 Kgs. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED A) AFRICANROYALJEWEL back muscle spasm.
