b)	GIANCARLO (D Schwarz) was slow into stride.	
c)	PRIME EXAMPLE (J Penny), SEATTLEGREENLIGHT (C Habib) and UNION SQUARE (R Fourie) were slow into stride.	

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a)		In view of the performance of VARTACUS (R Munger), (distance 12,25 lengths, betting 25/2), the 	Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. 	
b)		Jockey N Qaule was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking SMART POMODORO more than twelve times in the entire race.  Jockey N Qaule signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R750.00 was imposed. 
		When assessing this penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times the crop was used 	(13) and Jockey N Qaule's recent record with regards to this Rule and Guideline (1).	
c)		Jockey J P van der Merwe was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on 	the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking STAR COIN more than twelve times in the 	entire race.  Jockey J P van der Merwe signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R750.00 was imposed. 
		When assessing this penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times the crop was used 	(13) and Jockey J P van der Merwe's recent record with regards to this Rule and Guideline (1).	
d)		UNION SQUARE (R Fourie), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
