THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MISS PLATINA (S Khumalo), SAFE AND SOUND (M Yeni) and GRANDI ORECCHIE (M V'Rensburg) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) PETIT VERDOT (A Mgudlwa) over-raced in the early stages. b) GRANDI ORECCHIE (M V'Rensburg) over-raced in the early and middle stages. c) Jockey C Habib reported that MAURITANIA took no interest in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) Apprentice M Mbuto (JOLLICICATION) completed a satisfactory qualifying ride. e) Jockey A Mgudlwa signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (Appendix E; Guideline M) in that as the rider of PETIT VERDOT, he misused his crop by striking this mare more than twelve times (13) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R2000 was imposed. f) WONDERFUL (C Zackey), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G B Puller advised (DZ).
