THE STARTER HAD NO REPORTS. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockey C Zackey reported that LAGUNA VERDE took no interest in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. b) Jockey G Lerena reported that PASSAGE OF POWER made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) CIAN THE CONQUEROR was selected for the taking of specimens for TCO2 testing. The first specimen revealed a level of over 35 TCO2 mmol/L. Trainer C Spies was advised that, in terms of the Procedure for Total Carbon Dioxide (TCO2) analysis on Raceday, a second blood specimen would be collected. Trainer C Spies was informed that the second blood specimen had revealed a level above the threshold of 37 mmol/L and that consequently CIAN THE CONQUEROR was scratched from this race in terms of the provisions of Rules 72.1.23; 4.2.14 and 4.2.18 (Withdrawn at 15H53, 17/2 in the betting). CIAN THE CONQUEROR was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Spies was advised (Mr L Anderson). d) OPEN HIGHWAY (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer F Bronkhorst advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: None.
