Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:
a)	MARCHINGONTOGETHER (S Brown), YOUCANTHURRYLOVE (K Matsunyane) and AFRICAN 	ADVENTURE (J Mariba) were slow into stride.	

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a)	ZILLZAAL (K de Melo) hung in from the 400m.
b)	Jockey	K Matsunyane (YOUCANTHURRYLOVE) briefly dropped his right-side rein at approximately the 300m.
c)	When afforded the opportunity to place on record any factors which may have accounted for the poor performance of REUNION, Jockey W Kennedy explained to the Board that he had adopted the usual front running tactics that best suit this gelding. He further explained that REUNION had travelled comfortably around the turn and into the straight, however, going through the 400m, REUNION adopted an uncharacteristically high head carriage and at this point, the gelding came under pressure and he felt something amiss. Thereafter, at the 150m, REUNION became severely unbalanced after taking an awkward stride. This resulted in Jockey W Kennedy easing REUNION out of the race. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. 
	Assistant Trainer A Peter, acting on behalf of Trainer P A Peter, was requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of REUNION on return to stables. 		
d)	ZILLZAAL (K de Melo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.	 
	Trainer S G Tarry advised (LN).
	When questioned regarding the improved performance of ZILLZAAL, Trainer S G Tarry explained to the Board that the removal of the blinkers for today's race had resulted in ZILLZAAL settling in the early stages and consequently this gelding had enough in reserve to finish his race off strongly. Trainer S G Tarry has undertaken to race this gelding similarly equipped when racing over similar distances in future.

JOCKEY CHANGES:
None.

a)	PRINCE EVLANOFF raced with a compression mask (declared 8 March 2022 at 07H53).		

THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED:
a)	REUNION examined post race, nothing obvious detected. Nothing obvious detected on scope.
