THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) LICKETY SPLIT was selected for the taking of specimens for TCO2. testing. The first specimen revealed a level of over 35 TCO2. mmol/L. Trainer SJ Snaith was advised that, in terms of the Procedure for Total Carbon Dioxide (TCO2) analysis on Raceday, a second blood specimen would be collected. Trainer SJ Snaith was informed that the second blood specimen had revealed a level above the threshold of 37 mmol/L and that consequently LICKETY SPLIT was scratched from this race in terms of the provisions of Rules 72.1.23; 4.2.14 and 4.2.18. (Withdrawn at 14h04, 7/2 in the betting). LICKETY SPLIT was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SJ Snaith was advised (Dr E Reynders) b) Shortly after the start SAINT BRIGID (A Andrews) was bumped on the hindquarters by GLEE CLUB (R Fourie), which was brushed inwards by PRINCESS OF BAYEUX (O Noach). c) In view of the performance of SAINT BRIGID (A Andrews), which proved difficult to settle in the early and middle stages and was not persevered with from the 150m, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) Leaving the 100m WINDRUNNER (G Wright) was unable to secure clear running between GLEE CLUB (R Fourie) and PLUM PUDDING (C Orffer) and, as a consequence, Jockey G Wright was unable to ride this filly to the finish. e) PRINCESS OF BAYEUX, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
