THE STARTER REPORTED: a) LUCKY THIRTEEN (O Noach) and BOMBER BAY (A Andrews) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) DREAMALITTLEDREAM (L Mxothwa) was hanging out in the straight. b) HAPPY DAYS (S Veale) shifted both ways away from the crop between the 300m and the 150m. c) Jockey JP van der Merwe was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (Appendix E) in that he mis-used his crop by striking COMMANDER GREEN forward of the saddle at the 150m. Jockey JP van der Merwe signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1 000.00. d) Jockey L Mxothwa was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of DREAMALITTLEDREAM he misused his crop by striking DREAMALITTLEDREAM more than 12 times (14) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey L Mxothwa signed an admission of guilt and was fined R4 000,00. e) COMMANDER GREEN, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Gareth van Zyl was advised.
