THE START OF THIS RACE WAS DELAYED DUE TO THE DELAY IN THE PREVIOUS RACE. THE STARTER HAD NO REPORTS. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) As the start was effected, Jockey S Khumalo was dislodged from INSPECTOR JAMES, which took an awkward stride and stumbled leaving the stalls. Jockey S Khumalo was attended to by course paramedics and transported to the medical centre for further observation and thereafter dispatched to hospital for further assessment. b) Jockey G Lerena reported that TIGER STORM changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) Jockey C Habib reported that ANTONIO GAUDI took a number of awkward strides in the concluding stages. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) Jockey C Maujean reported that SEA WOLF changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) SUTHERLAND (P Mxoli), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
