THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CALIDA (M Yeni) jumped inwards sharply leaving the stalls. b) SKITTLES SKIES (P Mxoli) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) As the start was effected, WILD INTENT (C Zackey) was squeezed out when awkwardly placed between SKITTLES SKIES (P Mxoli), which jumped outwards leaving the stalls, and CALIDA (M Yeni), which jumped inwards sharply leaving the stalls. b) Approaching the 200m, QUEEN OF FIRE (M K Katjedi) was steadied momentarily in anticipation of being awkwardly placed between SKITTLES SKIES (P Mxoli) and WILD INTENT (C Zackey), which shifted in away from the crop and was corrected. c) CAPTAINOFTHEGREEN (P Strydom) hung out in the concluding stages. d) HAPPY MO (K Matsunyane) hung in the concluding stages. e) GIMMEACHOICE was selected for the taking of specimens for TCO2 testing. The first specimen revealed a level of over 35 TCO2 mmol/L. Trainer A P Peter was advised that, in terms of the Procedure for Total Carbon Dioxide (TCO2) analysis on Raceday, a second blood specimen would be collected. Trainer A P Peter was informed that the second blood specimen had revealed a level above the threshold of 37 mmol/L and that consequently GIMMEACHOICE was scratched from this race in terms of the provisions of Rules 72.1.23; 4.2.14 and 4.2.18. (Withdrawn at 16H05, 3/1 in the betting). GIMMEACHOICE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A P Peter was advised (Mr L Anderson). f) CAPTAINOFTHEGREEN (P Strydom), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis (MduP). g) SKITTLES SKIES (P Mxoli), unplaced, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis (AH).
