THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	THE PROPRIETOR (M Mjoka) was slow into stride.	

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	AVIGNON (D Ashby) over raced in the early and middle stages.
b)	Jockey D Ashby reported that AVIGNON did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
c)	In view of the performance of SOUND OF THE SEA (G van Niekerk) (Betting 9/2; Distance 9.15 lengths), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
d)	Trainer D McLachlan was questioned regarding the performance of DEVIL A SAINT in today's race as compared to his previous two runs. He stated that this gelding had been disappointing on 11 June at Kenilworth and therefore, he had decided to give this gelding a short rest. In his penultimate start, on 14 September 2024, he stated that this gelding had raced from a handy position and, in his opinion, had stayed on to the finish of the race. He noted that the first two horses, which had raced alone down the extreme outside of the track, had finished a significant margin ahead of the third-placed horse. The race video of the 14th September was reviewed and confirmed that the first two horses had finished 6.65 lengths ahead of the third-placed horse. Upon review of this race, the Stewards were satisfied that this gelding had been ridden and raced on merit. Trainer D McLachlan's explanation was noted.
e)	DEVIL A SAINT, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D McLachlan was advised. (SC)
