Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	SPIRIT'S UNITE (G van Niekerk) jumped slow, losing one length.	

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	COMMANDING (CF Dicken) and NUMZAAN (A Mgudlwa) pulled hard in the early stages.
b)	Shortly after the start RULE OF THUMB (C Bantam) clipped the heels of DAS GUTE (D Ashby) and stumbled when carried in by BOUNDLESS ENERGY (C Orffer), which was carried in by ONE LINER (G Wright), which shifted in and was straightened. Jockey G Wright appeared before the Board and was advised that the Stewards expect him to straighten his mounts sooner than he had on this occasion.
c)	At the 250m SUN DAZED (A Andrews) was steadied briefly and shifted in when awkwardly placed on the inside of SPIRIT'S UNITE (G van Niekerk), which shifted in slightly. As a consequence, AUGUSTA BLUE (A Arries), which was racing on the inside of SUN DAZED (A Andrews), was unable to secure clear running between SUN DAZED (A Andrews) and COMMANDING (CF Dicken) and had to be steadied away from the heels of  COMMANDING (CF Dicken), which shifted out slightly.
d) 	In the concluding stages SPIRIT'S UNITE (G van Niekerk) had to be steadied when awkwardly placed between the heels of DAS GUTE (D Ashby) and MARVEL WILLIAM (L Mxothwa). As a consequence, Jockey G van Niekerk was unable to ride SPIRIT'S UNITE to the finish.
e)	Jockey R Fourie reported that PLEASE BE TRUE changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt.
f)	BOUNDLESS ENERGY, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Bass-Robinson was advised. (TJ)
