Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) NEW WORLD (C Orffer) jumped awkwardly and was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Leaving the 200m NEW WORLD (C Orffer), which was improving into a run between the inside running rail and SUPPOSEYOU'VEHEARD (G van Niekerk), had to be steadied for a number of strides, losing momentum and then had to be directed outwards when SUPPOSEYOU'VEHEARD (G van Niekerk), which was racing green and showed a tendency to hang inwards, shifted in. A Stipendiary Steward called for a race review which was followed by him lodging an objection on behalf of the 4th placed horse NEW WORLD (C Orffer) against the 2nd placed horse SUPPOSEYOU'VEHEARD (G van Niekerk) on the grounds of interference leaving the 200m. The Objection Board, after giving regard to the evidence put forward, reviewing the patrol films and giving consideration to the margin of 0,2 of a length between the two horses concerned, was satisfied that NEW WORLD (C Orffer) would have finished ahead of SUPPOSEYOU'VEHEARD (G van Niekerk) had this incident not occurred and therefore upheld the Objection and amended the Judge's result. The Stewards, acting in terms of Rule 67.3.1, co-opted Mr R Sobotker onto the Objection Board. b) In the concluding stages, LADY BLUNT (R Fourie) was steadied briefly when awkwardly placed on the inside of DIAMOND DAYS (C Zackey). c) PAY THE PALACE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer ELP Steyn was advised.
