THE STARTER REPORTED: a) FATHER CHRISTMAS (JP van der Merwe) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) GOLDEN DESTINY (C Zackey) and GLOBAL ROCK (K Steyn) proved difficult to settle in the early stages. b) UNSUNG HERO (S Veale) was hanging out on the turn. c) At the 200m FATHER CHRISTMAS (JP van der Merwe) had to be steadied when tightened for galloping room between UNSUNG HERO (S Veale), which shifted out away from the crop and had to be straightened and NATIVE RULER (A Andrews), which rolled in. d) Trainer Gareth van Zyl was charged with a contravention of Rule 10.5.6.1 in that he failed to notify the local office of the National Horseracing Authority within two (2) business days that FATHER CHRISTMAS had been gelded. Trainer Gareth van Zyl signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R 250,00. e) FIRINGONALLENGINES, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M Rix was advised.
