Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PILOT FLAME (G Lerena) jumped awkwardly outwards and made contact with LITTLE MISS PINK (O Noach). b) EUREKA DIAMOND (S Veale) jumped slow, losing one length. c) MAI SENSATION (JP van der Merwe) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Leaving the 300m GOLDEN ANGEL (D Schwarz) had to be steadied briefly when close to the heels of BEWARE THE BOMB (G van Niekerk) which, after racing into the lead, commenced to hang out and shifted out. b) Approaching the 300m MAI SENSATION (JP van der Merwe) was held up and had to be directed outwards when close to the heels of a tiring WUGUG (L Mxothwa), which shifted out and SCARLET MACAW (A Andrews), which rolled in marginally. Thereafter, MAI SENSATION (JP van der Merwe) was carried outwards by SCARLET MACAW (A Andrews), which shifted out away from BEWARE THE BOMB (G van Niekerk), which continued to hang out and shifted out. Jockey G van Niekerk appeared before the Board and was advised to take stronger measures to keep his mounts on a straight course. c) BEWARE THE BOMB, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SJ Snaith was advised.
