Stipes Report
The start of this race was delayed due to the farrier having to replace the right front shoe on LADY IS A CHAMP (M Yeni) at the start. This mare was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to race. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) A fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Shortly after the start OFF LIMITS (C Maujean) was squeezed out between SACRED LILY (R A Venniker) which jumped out and ELUSIVE BELLE (*J Botes) which jumped in. As a consequence ENGLISH PRIMROSE (C F Dicken) was bumped out by ELUSIVE BELLE (*J Botes). b) At the 1600m SACRED LILY (R A Venniker) had to ease when awkwardly placed on the heels of ENGLISH PRIMROSE (C F Dicken) which had to steady off the heels of TOP TEN (*M Mbuto) which shifted inwards. Apprentice M Mbuto signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that as the rider of TOP TEN, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to ENGLISH PRIMROSE (C F Dicken) at approximately the 1600m. Accordingly a penalty from riding in races for a period of 7 days was imposed. (Suspension dates: 24.10.2024 - 30.10.2024 bdi). c) In view of the performances of CANFORD QUEEN (11.10 lengths, 5/1 in the betting) and ELUSIVE BELLE (*J Botes) (15.10 lengths, 25/2 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Assistant Trainer Gavin van Zyl acting on behalf of Trainer G van Zyl (Jnr) will be asked to report back on the condition of CANFORD QUEEN upon return to stables. d) OFF LIMITS (C Maujean), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer L W Goosen advised (NS). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) Jockey M V'Rensburg was the rider of CANFORD QUEEN (advised 15.10.2024/11h12). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) CANFORD QUEEN : Nothing obvious detected. b) ELUSIVE BELLE : Nothing obvious detected. SCRATCHINGS : a) PINK DIAMOND : Not eating up (Trainer - 16.10.2024/06h45).
