THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ABSOLU NOIR (Y Ramzan) was stubborn loading. b) POTENT CAPTAIN (C Maujean) was nervous in the stalls and jumped awkwardly, losing two lengths. c) CRUZADOR (C Zackey) jumped awkwardly. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) ABSOLU NOIR (Y Ramzan) recorded a TCO2 concentration of more than 36 mmol/L. Trainer E Kaknis was advised that a second blood specimen would be collected. This specimen was of an acceptable TCO2 level. b) WORDSWORTH (M van Rensburg) clipped the heels of ELUSIVE HUNTER (P Mxoli) leaving the 400m and thereafter was baulked for a clear run until the 300m. c) DUKE OF ORANGE (*DB Geerthsen) was hanging in from the 200m. d) ABSOLU NOIR (Y Ramzan) shifted out away from the crop between the 200m and the 100m. e) LEGAL THRILLER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
