THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	Fair start.	

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	At about the 800m, AMERICAN MATADOR took an awkward stride away from the inside running rail and then shifted in sharply and jumped through the inside running rail, dislodging Jockey J Solomons. As a consequence, Jockey G Wright (GARDEN SUN) directed his mount outwards and raced wide for a number of strides. AMERICAN MATADOR galloped to the finish on the inside of the track, was taken in hand and examined by the course Veterinary Surgeon. Jockey J Solomons was attended to by the course Paramedics and thereafter was cleared of any injury by the course Medical Officer.
b)	Apprentice I TAKA (JET A ONE) dropped his crop at the 200m.
c)	Jockey L Mxothwa (AFRIQUE) dropped his left side rein at the 150m, which he only regained in the concluding stages.
d)	Jockey G van Niekerk reported that he felt something amiss with CLAUDE MONET. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
e)	GNARLY, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer VH Marshall was advised. (TJ)
