Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	MOHANDAS (A Arries) and POINTDEXTER (G Wright) made contact leaving the stalls.
b)	ETOILEFILLANTE (D Ashby) jumped inwards and bumped TWICE THE MASTER (O Noach) leaving the stalls.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	As a consequence of the incident in the previous race, a large portion of the inside rail at the 800m had to be repaired, causing a delay.
b)	Shortly after the start, GROOVEJET (JP van der Merwe), which was taken in behind runners from a wide draw, was steadied when close to the heels of MELA STRENGTH (D Schwarz).
c)	ETOILEFILLANTE (D Ashby) raced wide without cover in the early stages and was allowed to race around runners and into a prominent position approaching the 1000m.
d)	JOIN THE DOTS (R Fourie) raced wide on the latter part of the turn and into the straight. Thereafter, JOIN THE DOTS (R Fourie) commenced to hang out and shifted out from the 300m.
e)	While racing tight between TOTHEMOONANDBACK (*I Taka) and GROOVEJET (JP van der Merwe), ALADDIN'S LAMP (L Mxothwa) rolled in away from TOTHEMOONANDBACK (*I Taka) and brushed GROOVEJET (JP van der Merwe).
f)	In view of the performance of GOLDEN GREY (S Veale), which gave ground to the field from the 800m, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
g)	Apprentice I Taka was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (Guideline 3; Appendix E) in that he mis-	used his crop by striking TOTHEMOONANDBACK forward of the saddle in the latter stages. Apprentice I Taka 	signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1 000.00.
h)	JOIN THE DOTS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer B Crawford was advised. (SC)
