THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SPIRIT'S UNITE (A Domeyer) was slow into stride. b) PIETER BOTH (C Bantam) was restless in the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) BLAME IT ON ME (O Noach) proved difficult to settle in the early stages. b) In view of the performance of IGNATIUS (JP van der Merwe), which raced detached from the field in the early and middle stages and finished tailed off, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) PIETER BOTH (C Bantam) returned with a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended for a period of 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr E Reynders) d) UNSOLVED RIDDLE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer L Gila was advised.
