Stipes Report

The start of this race was delayed due to WALKIE TALKIE (A Mgudlwa) and NEW FRONTIER (*B Plaatjies) having their left front shoes attended to by the farrier at the start. These horses were examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to race.

THE STARTER REPORTED:  
a)	TIDAL ROCK (R A Venniker) lost 1 length. 
b)	NEW FRONTIER (*B Plaatjies) was slow into stride.
  
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a)	Apprentice D Pillay received instructions from Trainer L Karriem to race SUMMER LIGHTNING from the front should circumstances permit.  
b)	After being ridden forward in the early stages TIDAL ROCK (R A Venniker) lost ground to the field and thereafter was not persevered with. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. 
c)	SYRIAN STEEL (M Yeni) hung out throughout. 
d)	ROLLO THE VIKING (G Lerena) hung out from the 250m.
e)	Jockey G Lerena reported that ROLLO THE VIKING took no interest in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
f)	Jockey M Yeni reported that SYRIAN STEEL did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
g)	Trainer C Hewitson signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 8.3.1 in that he failed to ensure that the owner's colours were available for WALKIE TALKIE. Accordingly, a warning was issued.
h)	RAINBOW OF ROSES (K Matsunyane), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer N Kotzen advised (DZ).
