The start of this race was delayed due to the previous race delay. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) STAR OF THE FUTURE (G Lerena) jumped out awkwardly. b) FIRE FORCE (J Jacobs) lost 2 lengths and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) In the concluding stages CAPTAIN OLIVER (D Daniels) was brushed in by IRON MONGER (N Patel) which rolled in away from the crop. b) Jockey R A Venniker reported that GLOBAL RULER did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) In view of the performance of GIJIMA MFANA (K Matsunyane) (13.65 lengths, 77/100 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) An Inquiry will be opened into Jockey N Patel's (IRON MONGER) crop use in this race. e) The Board has adjourned to review Jockey D Daniels's (CAPTAIN OLIVER) crop use in the concluding stages. f) CAPTAIN OLIVER (D Daniels), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
