THE STARTER REPORTED: a) HAMPSTEAD HEATH (G van Niekerk) jumped slow, losing two lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) GLEE CLUB (S Veale) raced without cover in the early and middle stages and as a consequence, proved difficult to settle. b) Approaching the 200m COULDITBE (A Domeyer) was carried inwards by ENCHANTING CHOICE (C Zackey) and then had to be steadied when close to the heels of ICE RAIN (G Wright) when ENCHANTING CHOICE (C Zackey) shifted in away from the crop. Jockey C Zackey appeared before the Board and was advised to take stronger measures to keep his mounts on a straight course in similar circumstances. c) At the 150m TOKYO PRINCESS (A Arries), which was held up behind GLEE CLUB (S Veale), was directed outwards and made contact with ICE RAIN (G Wright), which then shifted outwards onto COULDITBE (A Domeyer), which was momentarily inconvenienced. Jockey A Arries appeared before the Board and was advised to take more care in similar circumstances. d) In the concluding stages HAMPSTEAD HEATH (G van Niekerk), which was continually held up for a clear run in the straight, made contact with the hindquarters of JET TO THE SUN (R Fourie) while attempting to improve into a narrow run on the outside of JET TO THE SUN (R Fourie). As a consequence, JET TO THE SUN (R Fourie) was unbalanced shortly before the finish. e) KAMCHATKA, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer WA Nel was advised.
