THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MISS WORLD (D Ashby) and BILLY COOL (G Wright) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) ROMAN AGENT (JP van der Merwe) was hanging in from the 300m. b) At the 200m HANDSOME PRINCE (G van Niekerk) rolled out and had to be straightened. c) Jockey D Ashby was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (Guideline 3; Appendix E) in that he mis-used his crop by striking MISS WORLD forward of the saddle in the latter stages. Jockey D Ashby signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1 000.00. d) LUHAMBA PHAMBILI, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Gareth van Zyl was advised.
