Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) WINTER GAMBLE (A Domeyer) jumped awkwardly outwards. b) NEMOROSA (G van Niekerk), TOTTS GIRL (O Noach) and FLEUR DE VILLE (K Steyn) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) GOLDEN IDEAL (M Mjoka) proved difficult proceeding to the start and had to be led, riderless, by a Handler, causing a delay. Trainer JMT Stewart was advised that should this filly behave in a similar manner in future engagements, it may be suspended. b) Shortly after the start NEMOROSA (G van Niekerk) had to be steadied when close to the heels of WINTER GAMBLE (A Domeyer), which jumped outwards. c) Jockey M Mjoka reported that GOLDEN IDEAL, which was hanging out from the 400m, raced with its tongue over the bit. d) Jockey JP van der Merwe was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (Guideline 3; Appendix E) in that he mis-used his crop by striking LOVE STORY forward of the saddle at the 200m. Jockey JP van der Merwe signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1 000.00. e) BERRY'S BOOGIE (AUS), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer WA Nel was advised.
