THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	MARINE MERCHANT was selected for the taking of specimens for TCO2. testing. The first specimen revealed a level of over 36 TCO2. mmol/L. Trainer C Bass-Robinson was advised that, in terms of the Procedure for Total Carbon Dioxide (TCO2) analysis on Raceday, a second blood specimen would be collected. Trainer C Bass-Robinson was informed that the second blood specimen had revealed a level above the threshold of 38 mmol/L and that consequently MARINE MERCHANT was scratched from this race in terms of the provisions of Rules 72.1.23; 4.2.14 and 4.2.18. (Withdrawn at 15h02, 33/20 in the betting). MARINE MERCHANT was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Bass-Robinson was advised (Dr E Reynders)
