THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BORN ATLANTIC (K Matsunyane) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) GAMER (K A Brewer) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) BORN ATLANTIC (K Matsunyane) commenced to hang in badly from the 1200m and thereafter was eased out of the race from the 600m. Jockey K Matsunyane reported that he felt something amiss with this gelding in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. b) Jockey G Lerena (YOJIMBO) did not persevere with his riding from the 300m. Thereafter, Jockey G Lerena reported that he felt something amiss with this gelding in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Trainer A G Laird was requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of YOJIMBO on return to stables. c) ICHACHA (P Mxoli) hung out from the 200m. d) STORM AHEAD (R Danielson), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
