Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	FAMILY LAW (L Mxothwa) jumped slow, losing one length.	
	
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	Shortly after the start FAMILY LAW (L Mxothwa) shifted in sharply towards the inside running rail and thereafter, had to be steadied on the inside of INHERIT THE RAIN (X Ndlovu) for a number of strides.
b)	Approaching the 950m INHERIT THE RAIN (X Ndlovu) faltered and stumbled badly.  As a consequence, FAMILY LAW (L Mxothwa), which was close behind, was unable to take evasive action and fell over INHERIT THE RAIN (X Ndlovu), which resulted in both jockeys simultaneously being dislodged from their fallen mounts. FAMILY LAW and INHERIT THE RAIN were attended to on course by the Veterinary Surgeon. Jockey's L Mxothwa and X Ndlovu were attended to on course by the paramedics and subsequently by the on course Medical Officer. This precluded Jockey's L Mxothwa and X Ndlovu from being able to weigh in. In terms of Rule 66.2 the Stewards were satisfied that both Jockey's L Mxothwa and X Ndlovu had carried the correct weight.
c)	Jockey C Zackey reported that LEDELL'S ECHO made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
d)	Apprentice *N Nastili reported that JEWEL CAT had blood in his mouth post-race. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
e)	Jockey M van Rensburg reported that FUNKY MUSIC did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
	Trainer Z Oosthuizen was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables.
f)	THE MAURITIAN, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised. (LM)
g)	DONNY TEE, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GD Smith was advised. (LM)
