Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	LAUNCH CODE (E Webber) was nervous in the stalls.
b)	KAROO GOLD (Y Ramzan) rushed the front gates of the starting stalls and thereafter was slow into stride.
c)	PEDRO (C Maujean) was slow into stride.
	
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	THUNDER MASTER (D Schwarz) was hanging in from the 300m.
b)	SCAMPTON (R Fourie) was hanging in from the 250m.
c)	HOLOCENE (K Minnie) was steadied momentarily and had to be switched out to obtain a clear run when close to the heels of EUPHORIC (*DB Geerthsen), which shifted inwards slightly between the 250m and 150m.
d)	At approximately the 50m PEDRO (C Maujean) was carried outwards by EL ROMIACHI (*N Nastili), which shifted out away from the crop. These horses came together and made slight contact shortly before the finish line. A Steward called for a race review into this incident, after which Jockey C Maujean lodged an objection on behalf of the 2nd placed horse PEDRO against the 1st placed horse EL ROMIACHI (*N Nastili) on the grounds of interference in the latter stages.  The Objection Board, after considering the evidence put forward, reviewing the patrol films and giving consideration to the margin of 0,10 of a length between the two horses concerned, was satisfied that PEDRO (C Maujean) would not have finished ahead of EL ROMIACHI (*N Nastili) had this incident not occurred and therefore overruled the Objection.  
	Apprentice N Nastili was advised that he has appeared before the Board on previous occasions regarding the manner in which he uses his crop and allows his mount to shift ground without correction. He was advised to take stronger corrective measures to keep his mounts on a straight course in future engagements or he will be sanctioned.
e)	EL ROMIACHI, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Z Oosthuizen was advised. (LM)
