A)	CHARLIE MCCREEVY jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls, was slow away and lost 2 lengths.
B)	BLACKBALL was slow away and lost 2 lengths.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED

A)	Jockey R Fourie reported that he felt something amiss with IN AURO in the running and did not persevere with his riding in the straight.  The Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
B)	Jockey M V'Rensburg reported that BLACKBALL made an abnormal respiratory noise and choked up in the running, as a result he eased this gelding out of the race and dismounted at the 500m.  The Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
C)	In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning BLACKBALL (M V'Rensburg), and in terms of Rule 93.1, this gelding is suspended from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority for an indefinite period. BLACKBALL must gallop in the presence of a NHA Veterinary Surgeon after which, if found fit to race, will be sent for specimen collection for analysis. Stable Employee E E Griebenow on behalf of Trainer J V A Strydom was advised.
D)	In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning IN AURO (R Fourie), and in terms of Rule 93.1, this gelding is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Assistant Trainer L Gila on behalf of Trainer K Naidoo was advised.
