EN ROUTE TO THE START FIZZLY BUBBLY (P MXOLI) LIFTED ITS RIGHT FRONT SHOE WHICH WAS ATTENDED TO BY THE COURSE FARRIER. THIS CAUSED A DELAY TO THE START OF THIS RACE. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) THE REAL DEAL (L Nhlapo) was stubborn loading. Trainer S M Naidoo was advised to reschool this gelding prior to his next engagement (GT). b) RINGHO (N Klink) and ALESIAN BEAU (D De Gouveia) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) As the start was effected, THUNDERBIRD (C Maujean), THE REAL DEAL (L Nhlapo), and PRETTY PRECIOUS (K Matsunyane) were carried in by COSMIC QUEEN (G Lerena), which was bumped in by RINGHO (N Klink), which jumped inwards sharply leaving the stalls. b) GUN BARREL (M K Katjedi), after being slow away, failed to muster speed in the early stages. Approaching the 100m, Jockey M K Katjedi briefly dropped his right-side rein and thereafter directed GUN BARREL in away from the heels of RINGHO (N Klink). c) COSMIC QUEEN (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer J J van Vuuren advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) FIZZLY BUBBLY is a gelding (Gelded, 2 November 2023) To be investigated. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) THE REAL DEAL speedy cut left hind hock. b) FIZZLY BUBBLY brush wound left hind. c) GUN BARREL brush wound right hind. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
