Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	SILVERY SURFER (E Webber) jumped awkwardly and thereafter was slow into stride.
b)	AMERICAN PITBULL (J Gates) jumped inwards.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:

a)	SILVERY SURFER (E Webber) jumped awkwardly and was slow into stride. Thereafter, this colt failed to muster speed and raced detached from the field from the 1000m to the finish.
b)	MAFIABAGSTHEMONEY (S Khathi) had to steady momentarily when easing off the heels of AMERICAN PITBULL (J Gates), which was carried inwards slightly by VELVET VALOUR (G Wright), which shifted inwards at approximately the 800m. Thereafter WAR OF HEARTS (S Naidoo) had to ease for a number of strides behind the heels of MAFIABAGSTHEMONEY (S Khathi) and had to be switched out to obtain clear running leaving the 700m. Jockey G Wright appeared before the Board and was advised to allow sufficient space between the riders on his inside and the inside running rail.
c)	AMERICAN PITBULL (J Gates) was hanging in from the 300m.
d)	Jockey DB Geerthsen's (HAT MAN) crop briefly became entangled in his reins at approximately the 300m, which made it difficult for Jockey DB Geerthsen to pull his crop.
e)	GLEN NEVIS took an awkward stride at approximately the 200m and Jockey C Maujean did not persevere with his riding. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt.
Stable Employee G Venter, acting on behalf of Trainer TJ Laing, was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables.
f)	The saddle on WAR OF HEARTS (S Naidoo) slipped forward in running, resulting in the lead bag becoming detached approaching the 500m. On his return to the scale, Jockey S Naidoo (WAR OF HEARTS) weighed back in at 55kgs, 4.2kgs under the weight at which he was declared out (59.2kgs). An objection was lodged by the Clerk of Scales in terms of Rule 66.4 which, after hearing all the evidence, was upheld and WAR OF HEARTS was disqualified in terms of the provisions of Rule 68.2.11 and 69.7. Jockey S Naidoo's equipment was examined by a Stipendiary Steward and was found to be in a satisfactory condition.
g)	HAPHAZARD, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised. (LM)
h)	SILVERY SURFER, unplaced, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer K Mitchley was advised. (LM)
