THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CRIMSON COMET (G Wright) was nervous in the stalls. b) HAROLD THE DUKE (E Webber) jumped inwards. c) HEAD GARDENER (S Naidoo) jumped outwards. d) WALT WHITMAN (K Minnie), ISLAND MASTER (D Schwarz) and SAN QUINTIN (J Gates) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) RASTIGNAC recorded a TCO2 concentration of more than 36 mmol/L. Trainer Z Oosthuizen was advised that a second blood specimen would be collected. This specimen was of an acceptable TCO2 level. b) HAROLD THE DUKE (E Webber) jumped in and WALT WHITMAN (K Minnie) jumped outwards simultaneously and made contact shortly after the start. c) ISLAND MASTER (D Schwarz) over raced in the early and middle stages. d) An inquiry will be held into why ISLAND MASTER (D Schwarz) had to be eased off the heels of MILITARY MAN (S Khathi) at the 300m. e) LIGHT WITHOUT (Y Ramzan) returned with a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended for a period of 120 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr E Reynders) f) Trainer Z Oosthuizen was charged with a contravention of Rule 57.1.4 in that he saddled KAROO GOLD outside of the designated area without obtaining the required permission. Trainer Z Oosthuizen signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R1000,00. g) HAROLD THE DUKE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer K Mitchley was advised.
