THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	JAIPUR JEWEL (R Fourie), TAKAGARI (R Munger) and INTERCITY (*P Mxoli) were slow losing one length.
b)	HAROLD THE DUKE (S Brown) jumped inwards leaving the stalls.


THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:

a)	LEESON (M Yeni) over-raced in the early stages.
b)	ROYAL SIEGE (D R Lerena) hung in from the 700m.
c)	HAROLD THE DUKE (S Brown) hung out in the concluding stages.
d)	In view of the performance of JAIPUR JEWEL (R Fourie) (betting 3/1, distance 22,75 lengths), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
When afforded the opportunity to place on record any factors which may have accounted for the poor performance of JAIPUR JEWEL, Jockey Fourie explained to the Board that this gelding had travelled well, however half-way up the straight he had tired badly and commenced to give ground to the field.  He was at a loss to explain the poor performance from JAIPUR JEWEL. 
Assistant Trainer A Ndzilana was requested to report back to the Board on the condition of this gelding on return to stables.  
e)	In view of the performance of KISSED BY FIRE (C Habib) (betting 20/1, distance 25,50 lengths), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
When afforded the opportunity to place on record any factors which may have accounted for the poor performance of KISSED BY FIRE, Jockey Habib told the Stewards that this filly had jumped well and probably sat handier that he would have anticipated.  Shortly before the turn, she commenced to over-race slightly and as a consequence of this, she raced three wide up the Turffontein hill without cover which had resulted in this filly tiring badly in the straight.    
Trainer D Nieuwenhuizen was requested to report back to the Board on the condition of this filly on return to stables.  
f)	Jockey W Kennedy reported that LAMBORGHREENI took no interest in running.  The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
g)	Apprentice S Sosibo the rider of BEIJING EXPRESS, rode a satisfactory qualifying ride.
h)	ARLINGTON ACTION (D Schwarz), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.  Trainer T Zackey advised (AH).
