THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) LADY LACEWING (D Ashby) raced wide without cover on the turn and into the straight. b) Approaching the 200m SOLARTRIP was carried inwards and then had to be steadied briefly when awkwardly placed between BLAME IT ON ME (C Bantam) and WHAT A FORTUNE (A Domeyer), which rolled in and was immediately straightened. c) Jockeys R Fourie and R Khathi, the riders of UNSOLVED RIDDLE and MELA STRENGTH respectively, reported that these geldings did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) Jockey C Bantam reported that BLAME IT ON ME was blowing post-race. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) WHAT A FORTUNE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Bass-Robinson was advised.
