THE STARTER REPORTED: a) JAPANESE ROSE (R Fourie) jumped slow, losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. b) ONI SAN (G Lerena) took an awkward stride leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) After being slow to begin, JAPANESE ROSE (R Fourie) was steadied and taken in behind runners shortly after the start. b) At the 150m DARK WINTER (JP van der Merwe) was steadied when awkwardly placed on the outside of GREAT CAT (K Matsunyane), which shifted out away from KYALAMI GIRL (A Domeyer), which was hanging out and rolled out. In this incident SHE'S MY CAPTAIN (G Wright), which was racing on the outside of DARK WINTER (JP van der Merwe), was brushed outwards. c) In view of the performance of SHE'S MY CAPTAIN (G Wright) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) SIDDELEY, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
