THE STARTER REPORTED: a) FUTURARIUS (K Matsunyane) was stubborn to load. b) RAGNAR THE KING (C Habib) lost 2 lengths. c) FOREST DRUM (C Maujean) lost 3 lengths. d) THE WOLF (T Godden) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) THE WOLF (T Godden) hung out around the turn. b) SAUNA'S MAGIC (C F Dicken) hung in from the 400m. c) Leaving the 300m THE WOLF (T Godden) was brushed in by FUTURARIUS (K Matsunyane) which was hanging in. d) At approximately the 100m RAGNAR THE KING (C Habib) was brushed in by THE WOLF (T Godden) which shifted in marginally from the crop and was immediately straightened. e) Jockey T Godden signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2. (Appendix E), in that he mis-used his crop by striking THE WOLF forward of the saddle in the concluding stages. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1000 was imposed. f) Trainer P V Lafferty signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 10.5.6.1 in that he failed to notify the Chief Stipendiary Steward within 2 days that ONE ARMED BANDIT is a gelding. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R250 was imposed. g) GRAND APPEAL (N Patel), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M J Odendaal advised (SP). h) ONE ARMED BANDIT (D Daniels), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer P V Lafferty advised (NS).
