THE STARTER REPORTED: a) HEARTS ON FIRE (M van Rensburg) stumbled leaving the stalls. b) EXPLOSIVE (*T Mayhew) was slow losing two lengths. c) WARNING SOUND (P Strydom) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) FAN THE FLAME (J Penny) proved unruly and was injured in the saddling enclosure. When taking into account this filly's history of intractability, she is suspended in terms of Rule 93.2.4, until such time as she proves tractable saddling on a race day. Stable Employee F Naude, acting on behalf of Trainer C Spies, was advised (DR). b) In view of the performance of EXPLOSIVE (*T Mayhew), which refused to gallop and was not persevered with, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) HEARTS ON FIRE (M van Rensburg) raced green. d) PASS THE BATON (R Danielson) hung out from the 300m. e) SPUMANTE DOLCE (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
