Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) RAINBOW OF ROSES (*D Pillay) jumped awkwardly, lost 3 lengths and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) FLYINGCOOL (C F Dicken) over-raced in the early stages. b) Approaching the 400m QUANTIFIER (M V'Rensburg) and FLYINGCOOL (C F Dicken) came together and brushed. c) Approaching the 200m THE MIKADO (S Moodley) was inconvenienced on the outside of CAPTAIN OLIVER (D Daniels) which was hanging out from the 500m and rolled out. d) Jockey C F Dicken signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, (Appendix E; Guideline M), in that as the rider of FLYINGCOOL, he misused his crop by striking this gelding more than 12 times (15) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R7500 was imposed. e) In view of the performance of LUCRETIUS (C Zackey) (14.50 lengths, 13/2 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) FLYINGCOOL (C F Dicken), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
