Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ROYAL MERMAID (A Mgudlwa) and JILTED (K Matsunyane) became restless in the stalls shortly before the start was effected. b) SWEET REUNION (T Godden) lost 1 length. c) ROYAL MERMAID (A Mgudlwa) lost 2 lengths and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) ZALTA STAR (S Moodley) was hanging in from the 350m. b) At the 200m, ZALTA STAR (S Moodley) was eased when in a tight run between SWEET REUNION (T Godden) which rolled out marginally and DEE DAY (C Dicken) which was hanging in from the 350m, shifted in away from the crop and was immediately corrected. Thereafter, ZALTA STAR (S Moodley) was switched to the inside of SWEET REUNION (T Godden) to continue its run. A Race review was called by Jockey S Moodley (ZALTA STAR) as a result of this incident. After viewing the video evidence, no further action was taken. c) Jockey A Mgudlwa reported that he felt something amiss with ROYAL MERMAID in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) Jockey C Maujean reported that he felt something amiss with PRECIOUS BEAUTY in the running and as a result he did not persevere with his ride in the concluding stages. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) In view of the performance of MISTRESS REBECCA (R Venniker) (7.15 lengths, 10/1 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) SWEET REUNION (T Godden), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer C Eudey acting on behalf of Trainer M D Miller advised (SP). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) Nil. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) ROYAL MERMAID : Mouth injury. b) PRECIOUS BEAUTY : Nothing obvious detected. c) MISTRESS REBECCA : Nothing obvious detected. d) LA MADDALENA : Brush wound right hind. e) ZALTA STAR : Returned post-race having cast the right front shoe.
