THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	CATCH THE TUNE (C Zackey) jumped awkwardly, losing one length.
b)	GARDENER'S PRIDE (C Maujean) jumped slow, losing one length.
c)	PUERTO PLATA (ARG) (R Fourie) was slow into stride.
	
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	ROLL OF THE DICE broke free of his groom in the parade ring, cantered to the saddling area and was taken in hand. Jockey M van Rensburg mounted this gelding and trotted him all the way to the start. On arrival at the start, ROLL OF THE DICE (M van Rensburg) was examined by the course Veterinary Surgeon and passed suitable to race. 
b)	RED WILLIAM (DB Geerthsen) was buffeted between SAN QUINTIN (J Gates) and ALADO'S PRIDE (K Steyn) shortly after the start.
c)	Between the 350m and the 300m KAROO GOLD (X Ndlovu) had to steady on the inside of GOLD FOR AFRICA (E Webber), which shifted inwards and was switched outwards to obtain a clear run at approximately the 250m.
d)	Jockey S Naidoo reported that MILITARY MAN took no interest in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
e)	In view of the performance of PUERTO PLATA (ARG) (R Fourie) (Betting 33/10; Distance 4.10 lengths), which was not persevered with from the 150m, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
	Trainer AC Greeff was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables.
f)	In view of the performance of ROLL OF THE DICE (M van Rensburg) (Betting 18/10; Distance 6.35 lengths), which was not persevered with from the 100m, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
	Trainer WGC Miller was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables.
g)	DOWNING SEVEN, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer JVA Strydom was advised. (LM)
