Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	GENTEEL (S Khathi) jumped slow, losing two lengths.
b)	A MONTH OF SUNDAYS (C Maujean), LOTUS ISLAND (R Fourie) and WELSH STARLET (E Webber) were slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:

a)	CHEAP THRILLS (Y Ramzan) took an awkward stride away from the inside running rail at approximately the 1250m.
b)	The saddle on FIRE FESTIVAL slipped back in running, which resulted in Jockey M van Rensburg being unable to fully assist his mount. This was confirmed by the course Veterinary Surgeon.
c)	Jockey S Khathi appeared before the Board and was questioned as to why he did not change his crop hand when his mount showed a tendency to shift out away from it. He advised the Stewards that he was reluctant to change his crop hand as he was apprehensive that his mount would then shift in the other direction. Jockey S Khathi was advised to use his crop in an appropriate manner in future races in assisting his mount.
d)	LOTUS ISLAND, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer TJ Laing, acting on behalf of Trainer SJ Snaith, was advised. (LM)
e)	A MONTH OF SUNDAYS, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer K Mitchley was advised. (LM)
