Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	VIHAAN'S BOMB (K Steyn) and DAWN TILL DUSK (JP van der Merwe) were slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:

a)	To avoid further delays, the Stewards instructed the Riders to proceed directly to the start and not parade in front of the grandstand.
b)	When questioned regarding the apparent improved performance of THE GREY KING compared to this gelding's run on 7 September 2024, Trainer SJ Snaith told the Stewards that that run had been THE GREY KING's second run back after a rest and that he had opted to instruct Jockey R Fourie to drop this gelding out and ride him from off the pace from a wide draw. For today's race, he had been more favourably drawn and was able to be ridden from a prominent position. Trainer SJ Snaith was advised that where circumstances permit, THE GREY KING should race from a prominent position in future engagements. He was further advised to notify the Stewards should these riding instructions change.
c)	Jockey C Orffer reported that, in his opinion, the performance of KING PELLES was disappointing. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
d)	Jockey JP van der Merwe reported that he felt something amiss with DAWN TILL DUSK. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
e)	Trainer VH Marshall was charged with a contravention of Rule 8.3.1 in that he failed to have available the registered colours of the owner/s of BIG POPPA. Trainer GD Smith signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R250,00.
f)	THE GREY KING, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SJ Snaith was advised. (TL)
