THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	BIG FIVE (D R Lerena) was slow losing two lengths.
b)	EARL OF CARDIGAN (M van Rensburg) jumped outwards leaving the stalls.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:

a)	BEVOETERD (J Penny) was brushed out by EARL OF CARDIGAN M van Rensburg) which jumped outwards leaving the stalls.
b)	Shortly after the start, QUICK RUN (*K A Brewer) and DOUBLE MAGIC (D David) came together and brushed.
c)	Approaching the 300m, Apprentice J R Syster (FULLIAUTOMATIX) briefly lost his hold of his crop whilst changing from a back-hand to a fore-hand position.
d)	Approaching the 200m, (QUICK RUN) Apprentice K A Brewer's crop was accidentally struck from his hand. 
e)	EXPEDITIONER (K Matsunyane) raced with its tongue protruding to the side of its mouth.
f)	In the concluding stages, EXPEDITIONER (K Matsunyane) which shifted in sharply away from the crop, was steadied and switched out off the heels of MODERN MAGICIAN (C Habib).
g)	Jockey D David reported that DOUBLE MAGIC was blowing in running.  The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
h)	Jockey R Danielson reported that MARADIVA changed stride continuously in running.  The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
i)	MODERN MAGICIAN (C Habib), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.  Stable Employee S Habib advised (DR).
