Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) TRIPPING THUNDER (C Little) jumped awkwardly. b) SUPERHERO (C Orffer) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Approaching the 400m, CRESCENT (JP van der Merwe) was held up momentarily when close to the heels of DAWN'S EARLY LIGHT (A Domeyer). b) At the 250m GURKHA (C Zackey) had to ease for a number of strides when tightened for galloping room between the outside running rail and DAWN'S EARLY LIGHT (A Domeyer), which rolled out and was corrected. Thereafter, GURKHA (C Zackey) was directed inwards to continue its run. c) Leaving the 50m GURKHA (C Zackey) was accidentally struck on the head by the crop of Jockey C Little (TRIPPING THUNDER). d) Jockey C Orffer reported that, in his opinion, the performance of SUPERHERO was disappointing. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) MY ARCHANGEL, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer L Woodruff was advised.
